Photo Policy (Photographs & Video)

Dancers wear regalia with clan and family crests; they also perform dances that are proprietary and historic. Under traditional west coast First Nations law, family lineages own crests, stories, songs, and therefore are greatly protected.  We yah hani nah advocates and protects the clan ownership of the artists intellectual property and limits commercialization while permitting appropriate documentation. In respect of this photography and video is not permitted during dance performances at the We yah hani nah festival.

Any individual, organization or company wishing to engage in still photography or filming for broadcast or public news dissemination by any means for We yah hani nah Coastal First Nations Dance Festival must contact the festival director Margaret Grenier at 604-922-5277 or email margaret@damelahamid.ca

Media agree not to reproduce their work in any forum other than print or broadcast news, and further agree not to sell their work for any other use.

Commercial photography of any kind is expressly prohibited. Dancers of Damelahamid reserves the right to ask any photographer to cease if we believe they are taking photographs for commercial purposes at We yah hani nah or violating protocols noted above.
